Fifth Anniversary

Five years at this time, I was waking up next my favorite person in the world and, for the first time, calling him my husband. Since we started our lives together five years ago, so many things have happened that have changed us, challenged us and formed the amazing marriage that we have today. I am so thankful for all of the things that have brought us to where we are now. As I look back on the last five years, I'm amazed at where we have been. Over the past five years, we have learned...

1)...marriage is not always easy (something I wish someone would have told me before we got married) - its contant give-and-take and comprise.

2)...you don't always gets what you what (hmmmm....which was more news to me than Jason), but you always get what you need.

3)...love is NOT (can I just emphasize this again - N-O-T) always a feeling. Yes, sometimes we feel like loving, but sometimes its a decision.

4)...(I realize this sounds corney, but here is goes) love will get you through ANYTHING. I know people look at our lives and think we've got it all together. But, honestly, there is a lot of hurt and brokenness that we brought to the table when we got married. Our love for each other has mended so many of these hurts.

5)...so many blessings come from putting God before your spouse.

6)...sometimes life is hard, it just is. But, life is always easier when you know that your spouse has your back, no matter what.

7)...sometimes life is not necessarily hard, but its just not fun (translate: Jason working nights for two years and then going back to school...). But, having the love and support of your spouse will bring you to a happier place in the end.

8)...life is just better shared with the person that you love most in the whole world.
Between health problems, family problems, marriage problems, problems with friends, school, work and everything in between, we have had our share of troubles. Not to mention that the odds were against us since we married when we were so young. But, there have also been so many good times togther, and there is no one in the world that I would rather share my life with....the good, the bad and the ugly.

I can't wait to see where the next 5 years take us....

Daylilies - "Good things come to those who wait"

Yardwork is not really my thing....at all. Luckily, it is Jason's thing. And over the past three years (since we bought our house in Augusta), my sweet husband has taken so much time making our yard beautiful. Two years ago, he ordered a bunch of daylilies from an online gardening site. I had serious doubts about the ability of the daylilies to grow. In fact, the first year they sprouted, they didn't have any blooms. He has told me numerous times that we're "in it for the long-run...it takes time...be patient." Well, any of you that really know me know that patience is NOT one of my gifts. If daylilies were planted on Saturday, I want them blooming on Monday! But, I've waited patiently for my daylilies to bloom. This year, they are going crazy! And I LOVE them!!

These bright daylilies make me smile everyday when I leave for and come home from work. Good things do, in fact, come to those who wait.
